In Fall 2022, I was in a research presentation for ecology. It was a winter card where during the semester we did research on a certain topic and was to present to to the school near the end of the semester. The topic was Insect community assemblage in Roanoke city. This gave me experience on research and allowed me to explore the community and what different types of insects were in the community. This prepares me in the future for other research opportunities and skills.

Lunar New Year is traditional holiday that I celebrate with my family every year. We have many different types of tradition such as red envelopes, big dinners and hanging with family. This is a holiday that is usually not celebrated throughout my community. I think this is important because it give me a perspective of different diversity. In the future, it would help me with patients that have diverse backgrounds which can help me understand them to a better degree.

During high school,I was in a club called G-bees. It was a school club where students would make different products by using materials from our school beehive. I was awarded a scholarship that recognized my contribution in the club with many volunteer hours. This gave me the feeling of helping the community and being able to help a club where all the funds would go to school. In the future, it would help me prepare for other community service opportunities.

I currently work at my family's restaurant. I always disliked helping out when I was younger but as time went by and I got older, I understood why I was helping, and it taught me multiple different attributes that are important now. Some things that working taught me how it is to have a job and the responsibility of having one. It also helped me socialize with other people which is important because I need to be able to be social with other people so that I can understand them.
Sociology Community Service
During my freshman Year I had taken a sociology class that required students to do 20 hours of community service and I decided to do mine a local rescue mission. Some of the tasks that I had done was being able to help prepare and serve food, organizing the food pantry and cleaning up tools and tables. These all are simple task, but I enjoyed being able to help other that aren’t able to take care of themselves.

This was considered as an honor to be inducted into the society. This gave me a sense of achievement when I was in high school and gave the me the confidence that I could thrive and do well in the future. The society had helped me prepare for upcoming difficulties and challenges.
